I have learned so much in my work with Professor Totton and Oberlin Undergraduate Research (OUR). In Professor Totton's research lab, I have participated on several different projects, including: "Adjusting Threat Perceptions toward Transgender People in the United States," "Perceptions of helping transgender individuals decreasing integrated threats," "Health Experiences and Coping Strategies of Urban and Rural Transgender and Gender-Diverse Individuals," and "Examining geographic differences in Transgender healthcare experiences and social media use through LIWC analysis."
Working with OUR in the Oberlin Summer Research Institute (OSRI), I conducted a study with Professor Totton, titled "Helpfulness as a Method of Reducing Support For Anti-Transgender Legislation." The objective of this study was to analyze the relationship between altruistic behavior, threat perception, and voting behavior. To accomplish this, we used a quantitative two-time point survey design and analyzed the resulting data using analyses of covariance (ANCOVAs) and linear regression models.
